Music for Salsa nights
Most of us for a long time have been discussing about the music played at Rio’s during the Salsa nights. All true, all agreed. But friends it’s always easy to criticize, the difficult part is to suggest a solution. That is exactly what we are going to do.
There are a lot of tracks which we might hear regularly but may not have realized that these tracks can actually and effectively be used in a club to dance Salsa. Its easier to connect to such songs and enjoy them. The advantage of mixing such tracks with the conventional salsa tracks would be,
1.The change from music otherwise played during the classes.
2.Getting your ears used to identify the salsa beats and rhythm from varied sources.
3.A good collection will avoid repetition of tracks and ensure good balance of the tempo.
Take this as a test. Do you think you have the 1-2-3 and the 5-6-7 in you and can groove on it whenever you hit the dance floor???? This is a thread where you can suggest all those favorites from your collection- be it slow, moderate or fast- which you think you can salsa on.
We can put all suggestions together and pass it on to Anand and he can probably play them between the tracks he might play on the Salsa nights.Participation by all members is expected and appreciated.
Anand I am not sure how good a suggestion this is. Please advise.
Regards,
Meenakshi......

Re: Music for Salsa nights
you are very right meenakshi..
tracks like shakira "hips dont lie" is an example.. it is hugely popular track, people love to dance salsa on it and can be used in between conventional salsa tracks.. (though personally i dont like the track, i dont mind playing it)
there are many such hip-hop/reggaeton/popular tracks..just give them to me and i will play it

Re: Music for Salsa nights
hi,
recently i heard some more good music which is good for the beginners to get the beats.
the tracks are:-
Represent Cuba
Havana nights(Cristina, don't get confused with Black Eyed Peas.)
Sattelite
Do you only wana dance
You send me
Amor con Amor
Part time lover
Dormir Contigo
Can i walk by
i just called you to say i love you
fiesta palos rumberos
Se Me Sigue Olvidando
Ese Soy yo
Que Hay De Malo
Dance like this(The original version of Hips don't lie)
Super star
killing me softly
yesterday
You Are my Home
Eres Todo En Mi (can do salsa and rumba both, I like dancing on this music, its slow and has a lot of feelings, if anyone who knows spanish, will surely get lost in the deepness of the meanings of this song.)
Plz Anand play these tracks in salsa nights

I love the track "Rythem Divine" - Enrique Iglesias. It is amazing to salsa on. Wonderful lyrics and fantastic beats.
