Re: womens style
Surprisingly no one has had anything to say yet about this section!
An ideal dress for salsa, I would think....short black number (maybe upto 2 inches above the knee)... not too frilly after the waistline, fitted just enough to give room for adequate movement to the legs, and one that shows off the lady's back to great advantage. Simple, sexy and non-fussy. Perfecto.

Re: womens style
maybe yummy for you , Anand , but what about us novices It takes all our brain power to keep to timing and remember the moves as well as lead ... if we are distracted then thats the end of our move
So , gilrs , in class , keep it simple ... jeans and a nice top would do just fine ! . For salsa nites (if they ever make a comeback) ...come dressed to kill

Re: womens style
i once did the hardwork too.. so now i enjoy the desserts .. but really clothes dont matter as much as good hygiene, and a warm attitude..
i want to tell u a story.. i once went to a club and after watching some of the dances i put on my best smile and asked a fairly pretty girl to dance with me. she turned me down rather rudely, almost looking down on me. i moved on and then hit the floor. the dj then announced my name on the mike and, after my first dance she realised that i could obviously dance. a few songs later she walked up to me and said that she was tired or something like that earlier. God! i hate that. why cant women give men a chance just like that. maybe i would have been a bad dancer had she agreed earlier on, but that was no reason to be rude. there was no reason to look down on me, just because i was a nobody, and then suddenly brighten up realising that i was a somebody. i would want a girl to treat me well, especially when im that nobody.
i did dance with her then, but i wouldnt ever go back to her. men and women i think foremost like to be treated well. thats attitude. secong comes hygiene. clothes come last. thats my order.

Re: womens style
I think what you say is right…I don’t like girls/boys who give an attitude. I think they follow the saying…”I don’t need to be nice to you” . Those haughty guys n girls tend to put u off. Like hello...you would be the queen in ur house..outside you are just a normal person...known name or not a known name..you are still a human being...ok i think i should stop my rantings...too much philosophical stuff

Re: womens style
I agree with Anand...first comes attitude. Attitude goes for both guys and girls. I went to a couple of salsa nights in Boston and I'm not a very experienced salsa dancer...but when I danced with the BEST of dancers..they didn't make me feel inferior or uncomfortable and I really appreciated that. I also danced with beginners and that was enjoyable too.
So it's all about keeping a warm attitude towards everyone.
And yes...hygiene counts ALOT...even the warmest of people will not be comfortable dancing with someone who refuses to take a shower/put some deo on before putting on his/her dancing shoes!
And dressing up...that depends on the individual...as long as you are comfortable in it and it makes you feel good about yourself (which helps to boost up your confidence level)..then that's all one needs!

Re: womens style
Hi one and all,
In todays world guys as well as girls shows a lot of attitube, it looks like as if attitube runs in they blood. but we should not take it to heart as these people dont know what they are missing on.
I have a lot of attitube but its not visible to everyone, and trust me I make it visible only to those creatures who think no end of them selfs and I just love puting these people down coz they never realise how it hurts one when u show them attitude.
That girl was unlucky who showed Anand attitube, my God leave alone dance Anand in himself looks so cute that its real madness to show him attitube, he is so humble one glance at him and he leave u with loads of smile even without cracking a joke.
As far as womens style is concern, when ur in a classroom u should wear ur right shoes and a tights and tee-shirt is ideal as it will not only help u concentrate on ur dance as well as Jigs our dear tutor can notice our postures, our stepping style and correct us if its going wrong.
wearing fancy clothes is a big NNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO u here to learn ur still a student u dont need to be outstanding in the whole group.
As far is Salsa Night is concern or other parties it will be ideal if one dresses up according to her body shape. a flarly short white skirt is ooh laala on a thin girl but not for a fat girl like me.so I would prefer wearing a knee length white n black printed dress which will help me look slender. you should know ur body type and dress up, coz more than wearing an expensive dress u should know how to carry urself.
So its not always about dressing, its how u carry urself....
Mumbaikars indeed u r lucky Anand is the Best and you cant find a person like him God Bless Him. he is giving u all cake on a golden plate(his way of teaching and conducting classes, and variation of places where u can go)ah u wornt find any where.
Kai

Re: womens style
Little late in posting a reply...but nonetheless...
I agree with the points about attitude, but would like to add... along with humility, its also the graciousness of the partner that impresses me. Courtesy...charm...gentleman-like behavior....very very appealing to most girls I would think....These qualities have become obscure these days, so hold more value now in men... I mean, treat the lady like a Lady...!
