Lead n follow...
Dear Anand,
The articles u gave on quickstep site,I've read them all. In one of them u've mentioned that lady is always follower but u said just for convension u r saying this...or something like that. Plz explain that confusing stuff. Basically I am interested in listening to ur view on this. Is it convension we follow or rule of nature or what?? N also is it true for any step, any move, in any type of partner dancing on this planet??
Thank you!!

dear kaustubh
i have moved this topic here becos it is more relevant in this section here..
well the lady may not necessarily be the follower only. in the rock n roll age, many a time at social dances there would be too many women and too few good male dancers. so often two women would dance together, one being the leader and the other the follower. so in my opinion it is possible and acceptable for the lady to know and play both parts.. at some clubs i have also seen smaller built men doing the followers part dancing with another man.. though its much lesser than two women ..
so though generally while it is that man leads and lady follows i have seen a role reversal sometimes

Lead and Follow ..... just enjoy dancing...
You may learn the best moves and techniques, but at a club, everyone would be dancing at a different level. Eventually, you gotta judge your partner , start with simple and basic moves. The idea is to make the lady feel comfortable and enjoy the dance. Better to keep it simple and sweet and make your partner come back for more....
