heenaa's departure :(
dear all,
it is indeed a dark day in the history of Quickstep wherein "The Heenaa" leaves us tomorrow for THREE years to pursue her education in Sheffield, UK.
its a big loss both personally and professionally and she will be missed greatly by me
i wish her all the best and wish for her to come back soon to join us

Re: heenaa's departure :(
Interestingly, she would sometimes refer to it saying she was going to UK, sometimes saying she was going to great britian and sometimes to england.. so made me wonder what really is the difference between United Kingdom, Great Britian and England
so i tried to search for what the difference really is..here is what i found..
i got this information from http://geography.about.com/library/faq/blqzuk.htm
best wishes heenaa, will miss you
love always

What is the difference between the United Kingdom, Great Britain, and England?
The United Kingdom is a country that consists of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. In fact, the official name of the country is "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland."
Great Britain is the name of the island northwest of France and east of Ireland that consists of three somewhat autonomous regions: England, Wales and Scotland.
Therefore, England is part of Great Britain, which is part of the United Kingdom. The U.K. includes England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are not countries but the United Kingdom is. The remaining portion of the island of Ireland (that which is not the U.K.'s Northern Ireland) is an independent country called the Republic of Ireland (Eire).
What are the British Isles?
The British Isles consist of the two large islands known as Great Britain and Ireland along with the many small islands nearby. The countries of the United Kingdom and Ireland occupy the British Isles, which are separated by St. George's Channel.

I will miss her
Guys,
This is my first entry to the forum. I wish to see u all here pretty often.
Heena..well i still remember the day i saw her entering into the class to take her basic lessons and now she has left us all behind in salsa skills. I m sure all will agree with this.
I surely will miss her and especially while dancing Rumba (As i recall there is noone out there to practice Rumba now).
Wishing All the BEST to her..

Sheffield is a bit sleepy salsa-wise, I think, but perhaps Heenaa can liven it up! And Ashish, Southampton has pretty good venues, so don't you fret!

Re: heenaa's departure :(
well, i'll remember her for being a great sport too... never refused trying out those dips and drops with me even though i recall dropping her flat on the floor more than once... and she never stopped to amaze me with the ease with which she'd follow any of the weird ass combinations and variations i wud see in videos and try out with her, it was as if she knew beforehand wat was coming!

Re: heenaa's departure :(
For me Heena and Salsa are synonyms, and I mean it!
She is the only dancer, I have seen, who follows the leads (however complicated) flawlessly. People who are adept in something do have "attitude" - but not this chic! Despite having extraordinate dancing abilities, she never flaunts it explicitly - it's always implicit (how can a expert hide his/her expertness?).
I would definitely be missing you Heenaa!

Heena is gone ...
well ,ive attended only 2 sessions with heenaa's presence , but .... Speaking as a student there are 4 attributes which she had.... female , great dancer, great teacher and CIRCULATED among the dancers. Thus for the male students her presence was invaluable ... as only she could give inputs on whether we are dancing , leading well. In her absence we are left floundering with other novices!
SO , I dont think I can afford to relocate to Sheffield (btw , thats the home of the FUll Monty !) to learn dance , so , Quickstep, find us someone like her SOON!

Re: heenaa's departure :(
Hey .. !!
Once again, don't sound so sad you guys ..
Im sure quickstep will find someone .. !! MUCH better .. !!
Might take a while though .. haha ..
I have to say, the little bit about following that i know, i know only bcoz of anand .. And im not just saying that, it really is true.. We used to work together for a while in the beginning on content and stuff, when i had just about started learning.. I was a very average dancer then.. But months of slogging with him, and this is how i turned out ..
So you see, wat im trying to say is, its not me .. Its him .. !!
Believe me guys, he does great things ..
