It is a great dance, no doubt! :-) What do you find attractive about it, Anand? You still teach it, or has salsa completely taken over?

Pity! Do you think I will get lynched if I say salsa is fast food while Rumba and the rest is healthy, substantial main courses? Why do people go only for the easier option?!

i guess rumba (as compared to salsa) is a little bit more intimate dance where romance and feeling/emotion has to be there (or atleast role-played!). Hence, in conservative societies (and otherwise also) one would rather do rumba with whom he/she is more comfortable with... its a much deeper dance which one would like to do with that special someone! Also with much emphasis on posture and footwork and hip movements.. it becomes a difficult dance for a newcomer.
Whereas, salsa one can try with any partner and its freestyle so easy to learn... and like fast food
Rumba happens to be my favorite dance too... but i'm sad there are very less ppl interested in it (salsa is the craze) and hence, there is no rumba happening at Quickstep
and i was told that Anand is the man if you want to learn ballroom & rumba in mumbai (Chindu, your blog, i've found u ) so it saddens me more that i couldnt learn it here when i was in mumbai.

That indeed is a pity, Ashish, Anand. Someone really must warn people too much of junk food isn't good for your health! (Glad to know you are over this side of the ocean, Ashish. Check out Caliente, which is on tonight. Good salsa venue!)

Sure thing, Ashish. PM me when you get here... Southampton is a good place, actually, so you should have no problem.

Re: Latin Ballroom - Rumba
though i have learnt basic rumba moves from anand.....i dont really get to practice them.....why rumba even tango and bachata for that matter....is there any way we can host such "special" evenings...more like social gathering where we can practice these forms too.....???????
any suggestions regarding this would be welcome as i am sure there are alot of people who like rumba too.
