Re: Advice
Dear Anand.
I have completed one basic course of quicksteps old curriculum last year. And I will soon be finishing one session of the new curriculum. As you know , I am an active member of the quickstep family.
What advice do you have for me now.. I still enjoy the basic course as there are new moves each time , and am also enjoying my new role guiding the raw beginner girls..
should i continue , go for other level , try another instructor for a change or take a break ?
Thanks

Re: Advice
"Try another instructor" ? - Is that even a question?! or a threat
heehee ok samir, let me tell u what i do. suppose i was at ur level and had 10 hours to do salsa let me tell u how i would break it up
4 hours - practice the beginner combinations i already know
3 hours - learn new beginner combinations
2 hours - collect material, build a library, collect music, get shoes, watch videos, make notes, etc
1 hour - learn and try some intermediate/advanced combinations
no matter how advanced the dancer is, the reason i suggest spending a lot more time on beginner combos, is that its not the complexity of the move, but the quality of execution. if u execute something with class, even the most beginner move looks advanced. plus 80% of girls would be comfortable only with some basic beginner combinations. so if u spend too much time in doing too many complicated things, you would be left with very few girls to try it with.. so stick to the basics
u should invest in some nice very thin flat leather/suede soled shoes. it will help a lot.. try heera panna mall in mumbai..
u r at a very interesting stage in the dance.. a couple more months and you would be intermediate leader and moving towards advanced dancer..
hope this helped
anything else just ask
love

Re: Advice
Thanks a lot for a very comprehensive reply.
I thus understand that I should do more of the basic course , which is perfectly fine with me. I am also happy that you have been handing over some responsibility to me as a senior member.. my worry was that ppl shouldnt think im a 'loser' for being in basic forever!
As for the 'other instructor' thing , that was just a teaser .. of course u have spoilt us too much to look elsewhere ... ! we have much to learn from you ... and I will continue to be loyal to quickstep!
Hence guys (and especially gals) be prepared to see more of me @ grant rd ! And riddhi .. dont worry , Ill get my wallet along :p
