Views on newly launched Anand's "Non-flexibility" policy!
So, now you don't get those words - "You can come as many sessions you want to practice", but instead
"It is purely business!"
So, what is wrong with this new policy? My candid inference is that Everyone in this world is for earning money. I see nothing wrong with the change. I don't want to list out names of other classes/teachers - you all know what is "their" policy. You pay some amount of money you get the service. You cannot get refund if you don't like the movie, nor you get chance to watch movie again if you couldn't understand what you saw it first time.
Putting the "restriction" has reasonable reasons:
1. You would give the importance to your schedule
2. You would carefully understand what is being taught, instead of relying on fact that "Don't worry, I would understand it later, when someone would teach it again", OR "I can practise it with some - since I've flexibility"
3. You'd come on time to the class.
4. It implicitly enforces Quickstep to improve on "Quality" aspect, rather than long running "Quantity" aspect. By this I did not mean Anand's quality is low, but his experience is not been utilized. Anand, for the past 3 years I've been to QS, is teaching the same thing - but he knows much much more than that!
5. Since each and everyone had flexibility to stretch 2 months courses to 4-8 months, QS could not upgrade the course content (since it would conflict with old student who is "stretching"). Content upgradation, I strongly believe, is the need of the hour!

Hey Ajay,
Well said...
Ya people do like to take things for granted, what Anand has offered to his students No Dance Studio in Mumbai or else were, will offer its students. and if Anand has truly stopped what he was offering to his students, then I guess its a big loss for Mumbaikars, coz even if in 16 days they didnt learn the dance, they could atleast take 3 - 4 turns extra and finish they course than prolonging it for 4 -5 months. every session that takes place in those three centers, quicksteps is paying for it...but Mumbaikars dont seem to understand, they really do feel we paid so we can drag it for as much time they want.
Its really disappointing that Anand had to limit down his rules, coz the ones who r truly there for learning and incase certain of them have a slow learning speed wornt be able to get those few extra precious turns that they need to learn for what they have paid for. but its really sad that quicksteps students didnt understand the importance of those few precious turns.
Wake up Mumbaikars ur losing out on special treatments that Quickstep had to offer to u all, also learn to appreciate whats given to you, dont take things for granted. Time is not the same all the time.

Re: Views on newly launched Anand's "Non-flexibility" policy!
Well i do understand the real reasons...but i dont like this policy...there really are some slow learners...esp. moi!! i had come regularly for 3 months..have stopped..but i still have to finish 4 moves from level 1.....it takes me time to learn the moves..but then with this commercial approach i donno..it also makes the whole feeling of belongingness go...
can anyone suggest a solution for slow learners?? i feel like m losing out on good stuff..
agreed there are ppl who take advantage of the flexibility option..but genuine ppl need to be taken care of as well...
there is a reason why ppl come for anand majumdar's classes and we need to recognize it!!

Re: Views on newly launched Anand's "Non-flexibility" policy!
varada,
here is a way there is an "reasonable" accomodation for slow learners.
1. the same move is taught THRICE. once at each centre. to practice one may drop in to more than one centre and practice it upto three times, though u may have paid for it only once.
2.The level of the instructors and institute cannot grow if the same content is repeated over and over. I ended up teaching scissor, titanic, magic for around 5 years. how does one grow with that ?
3. Flexibility was more mis-used than used. i have people, who signed up for a TWO-month course and stayed for a YEAR. Thats not all. At the end they were not happy saying they hadnt learnt!
4. In my mind being commercial is a good word. if one provides high-quality service in return for a fee. who does business for charity anyway ?
5. certain flexibility does still exist for, like you said, the serious learners. if you do come back, i will explain it
regards

Re: Views on newly launched Anand's "Non-flexibility" policy!
just a suggestion ... to prevent over-stayers cant u give like a coupon booklet with fixed number , which everyone validates ,so number of sessions are fixed , not time.. thus one can finish these as quickly or slowly as one can without being a burden.
Ppl in my position cannot really predict free time at a ixed time for the whole month on a working day ..
