Ideal placing of the hand?

Ideal placing of the hand?
I often observe than the hand placement behind the partners back can vary as per the partners height. Since i am relatively tall it is easier to put my hand below the shorter partners and in case of taller ones it seems to be better slightly below. Does it matter too much while leading?

Re: Ideal placing of the hand?
Hi Anuj,
I am not very sure of the ideal location of the man's right hand on the lady's back, but personally I feel that the hand should be on the lady's back at the level of the bustline cause when you give the lead- especially for CBL- it is much more comfortable and does not seem to be like a "push" and the lady can comfortably slide to the other side. I guess the hand too high or too low might not be able to give a firm lead to the lady regardless of her height. I know you guys need to do a tough job of adjusting yourself to the partners body but I think practice will definately make things easy.
Happy dancing....

wow...I think thats the best response I have seen..Meenakshi, I think technically you have made it understandable, .... even for the guy it is most convinient...irrespective of wether the guy is taller or shorter

for the girls
And a slight tip for the girls...
When you place your hand on the boys shoulder , it should also gently rest on his arm with a bit of downward pressure.. u will then be able to feel the lead when he is exchanging hand holds. Also ur left arm can be used to push the guy a bit away if u r uncomfortable with the distance maintained , especially with an unknown partner.

Yes Meenakshi , its technically at the shoulder blade level , medically called the scapula!
Thats a great tip .. and guys , remember , when you are actually turning the girl , especially in an 'illusion' turn , remember to slip your hand down to the waist of the girl , its very elegant , prevents the girl from slipping away , and obviously u cant have ur hand at the bust level!
