Quality Notice

Dear all,

I wish that everyone reads this post very carefully.

1. I feel that the quality of content on the forum has deteriorated too much. So much so that i now feel ashamed to invite people to this forum and call it a salsa forum. It seems more like a jokes, riddles, poems, and fight forum at times

2. Please understand that Forums have a specific vertical purpose. Ours is to discuss salsa. Share views, opinions, generate content, news, tips, basically INFORMATION - and not JUNK (in perspective to salsa)

3. On many occasions i have very painfully written content or re-printed content with due credit, but i dont see many other people doing the same or even participating in the meaningful salsa discussions

4. International teachers like JOYINMOTION initially contributed many meaningful articles, but since she didnt get participation, she also is going easy and not participating. Maybe she rightfully believes that we dont deserve her knowledge. This is not good.

5. Despite my requests i still see many posts in hindi which alienates people who dont understand the language

6. I see meaningless squabbles and fights happening. If you wanna fight take it to "the pit". Thats what the section is for. having fights in the middle of threads is totally unnecesary and distracts serious readers

7. I dont feel like reading my own forum. Its become meaningless junk for me. Which is why i stayed away from it for so many days in the hope that people would realise. But apparantly nobody does

8. I have studied many forums before making this one. And believe me its not an easy task to have such a large forum and keep it running. Most forums have a "fun" section like jokes etc.. but that never exceeds 10% of the forum content. It is for recreation and not the main part of the forum. Hence i created "small talk" to have fun. But that seems to have become our main part. It is meaningless.

9. First Level Warning : On the 3rd of december 2008 i am going to stop access to the "small talk" section temporarily for a month. Please complete all ur conversations by then. Any non-salsa or meaningless conversation which comes into any other section will be straightaway deleted and not moved.

Second and Final Warning : If i see meaningful content generated in that month, i will re-open the small talk section. If the situation doesnt improve even after that i will Delete the "small talk" and other meaningless posts completely.

Third Level Action : If even this doesnt prompt the forum to be of a certain quality, i will leave the forum. Then anyone can do what they like with the forum. Take it wherever u want.


10. This is probably my harshest post on the fourm and i write this in great regret. The purpose of this forum was to provide people and opportunity to LEARN mainly and socialise a bit. But this is more of meaningless talk with no learning. I dont want to associate myself with this sort of a platform.

i agree to you anand nd stoppin access 2 small tlk section is a gr8 idea.

coz in betwn i ws also indulged in ths section nd ws nt able 2 post meaninful contents...

Hi All,

I personally feel what Anand has just written about the forum is not good. I see him spending hours each day working on the forum, just for us. Lets respect his feelings/opinion and make this forum a dance forum and live upto his small expectation. Fun is an important element of everything and that is why we got the small talk section, lets make sure from next month its just a small part of the forum and not everything on the forum.
As a Global Moderator of the forum, I will make sure our forum is a DANCE forum and would want equal contribution/support from each one of you to keep it like that. We CANT let Anand not be on the forum. If he is not there, our presence here would make no sense.
Lets all work together (like always) and make sure "Quickstepsalsa" is the BEST Salsa forum!

I not only agree with Anand , but in fact brought up the same issues in the post Avoid Small Talk.
I hope people pay heed to this advice.

Very well said, Anand... Our forum had actually become more of posting large quantity of posts over and above quality posts...

I guess this will ensure that we treat this forum with some respect and post only meaningful content.

I fully agree with you Anand. But the thing is people visit this forum to read or to reply on something new. And many times it happens that there are no new "Dance" related discussions, and they tend to start new off-topic discussion or reply to some other non-dance discussion. All this is needed to keep the forum active!

People must bring new topics on Dance - be creative guys!

Even i have similar feelings.....
Keeping the fighting things apart, regarding the non salsa topics:
I remember u (Anand) telling to keep the forum active....
For a beginner like me, i get ALL the information what i wanted at this level of dancing in this forum which is already posted by some one.
So the forum is just like a perfect book for me. So what will be my contribution to it? I just read it and say to myself "wow a nice article" and the log out.
If at all i have any Questions i have, i will raise. thats it.......

As ajay asked, Pls throw some innovative ideas.....

small talk section is hereby closed. It is read-only. All moderator rights are revoked.
Only Global Moderators and admins have access to it, to move and moderate posts.
