Re: Personal hygiene
Personal hygiene is one of the most important aspects of social dancing, many of us unfortunately dont give it due importance.....
-- Deo: imperative for both guys n gals
-- Mouth freshener: ditto
-- Clean hands: this ones for guys....i always feel muggy after dancing with guys
-- Handkerchief: for people with sweaty hands
-- Nails: lost count no of times iv been scratched by gals....worst is iv even been scratched by guys !!!
-- Jewelry: ladies pls avoid chunky/sharp/expensive jewelry on the dance floor
-- Hair: lost count no of times iv had to do the matrix move to avoid getting hit in the eye...
...and after ur done dancing dont forget to wash ur hands thoroughly...

Re: Personal hygiene
It happens many times that girls bring the sweat from other guys in their hands...
Not the girl's fault though!

"Personal Hygiene"....speaks about oneselfs.
I remember while I was growing up my maa use to tell me baby ur mouth smelling and this she use to tell aloud that others could hear, even when I would smell bad she would again go on ur smelling bad so that others could hear and thats how I have changed alot in my personal hygiene style.
Everybody born on this planet has some or the other style in them, if not yet they can aquire it, its not hard buddy. but one thing we take for granted is "ITS OK" when we stop telling ourselfs ITS OK then we will go ahead in life.
As we go to gym we carry with us a deo spray, so that we feel fresh. same way when we come for a dance class we should carry with us deo's, towels, waterbottel, if you can not carry water bottels with you then I guess before entering the dance floor buy a mint sweet, after the sweet or chewgum is done drink a glass of water. trust me you yourself will feel fresh and the person ur dancing with, will be happy to come closer and dance with you
thats about mouth freshness and body odour.....now about sweating hands- if you have sweating hands that means you need more salt in your body... this might not prevent or benifit in keeping the hands sweat free but its good for your health and thats Drink coconut water daily, and if you can drink lime water with salt this will help you maintain a good balance between the salt lost in your body.
And trust me ITS NOT OK if you dont have a healthy person hygiene style....and it does not cost alot to aquire one.

Re: Personal hygiene
Amarprem has beautifully pointed the key points that should be considered on the dance floor while your learning(students)Salsa
Girls about they long nails, ummm I can say dont chop them off but you can make them abit small than the usual style and let the shape of the nail be in "U shape" and filed.... its v.embrassing for a us when we hurt or scratch the person we r dancing with.
Also I have noticed lots of girls leave they hair open and dance and while they are in the swing they dont realise tht.
while exchanging or dancing with different partners your hair swinging on front persons face...na its does not look good at all and if I had to be a guy and girls would be swinging they hair on my face I would leave the dance floor and not dance only.
Girls please tie your hair, it looks decent while your in the class room. when ur in a disco ur the queen of your actual partner do whatever hairstyling you want.
Heenaa really carry her hair moves very well... I only admire her hair style hats of to her

Re: Personal hygiene
chronic aliments
most of us are really enthusiastic and wud'nt want to miss an opportunity to salsa...but would request people to refrain from attending class when suffering from chronic/ highly contagious ailments like cold, conjunctivitis(yes, iv encountered it) etc....there's always another class

Re: Personal hygiene
i always keep a stock of mints (i dont smoke!) and a deo (I dont stink either!) in my car. But a good idea would be if Quickstep kept a bowl of mints and a mens an womens deo at the entrance.. shouldnt cost much...

Re: Personal hygiene
not at all samird not at all, come on already Quickstep is giving us alot of benifits now keeping deo's . even if they had to do that, it would seriously be............................. come on ! for example everytime I change my partner I smell the same fragrance no not a good idea at all.

Re: Personal hygiene
actually now I think its an even better idea... those with a uniform smell are those who forgot to get their own deo's... cud be a good punishment too , for latecoming , wearing wrong shoes or (shuddr) cellphone ringing .... " go out and get sprayed by the Quickstep deo " .... hey we could start a whole chain of salsa accesories!
why punish the partners .. rather a uniform smell than a 'variety is the spice of' stink

Re: Personal hygiene
deos applied on a "stink" could qualify as chemical warfare, trust me i know. nothing beats a clean scrubby bath
Re: Personal hygiene
personal hygiene is definitely very important ..esp wen attending salsa class where each person dances wid many others ...
everyone should be aware of how they should groom themselves before coming to class ..they shouldn't have to b told ...
