This forum supports Polls. So creating few polls, sticky ones, I would recommend.

Few FAQs, basic posting guidelines et. al.

hey you know what might be nice...the section you have, to discuss the various styles of salsa....maybe you could add a small intro to each style, that is comprehensive for beginners too.... it might make it easier for them to make posts regarding styles in that way...

What about voting for the best post of the week/month depending upon the frequency and the number of posts.

One suggestion I have is that old , out dated and non relevent posts should be deleted.. if the home page gets too cluttered with too many topics we will lose focus.

To some degree I agree with non-relevance.

But forums are not like email box, where old mails should be warded off. Forum is where information/discussions are stored (almost) permanently - so that they can be searched and read later easily.

A newbie would definitely be willing to know basics (like styling, music, combination makeup, leading/following et. al.). Wouldn't it be better for her/him to find the material without posting a question?

Further to that, in many forums I've visited, I've seen that people do ask some question that had already been answered dozens of times. And, that's the reason "Search before you post" is Pinned up in forum! A good poster would MIND posting answer to some query again and again!

Why Search feature is limited to Titles only?

As an example if I search "Culture Curry" it should return "Anand's Column in Bombay Times" thread. But it results nothing!

When I search "Bombay" it searches it.

Hey...!
I also appreciate the forum advancements, and understand the hardwork devoted into it!

That was just a suggestion. Forum structure is different than forum database. Almost all forums have feature to "Search within threads".

Chill !

Just put an smiley at the end of statement you think might be read otherwise - if you can't rephrase the statement. Smile

i don gt angry oftenly...
often is already an adverb dude, why are you adding LY ! ha ha! Razz

nd Ajay i jst meant 2 say tad i also run a same typ of forum nd i met d same prob whch u faced... so i tried solvin it bt was unsucessful.... Sad
I dont know which set of forums you are talking about. Forums built on top of vBulletin (www.vbulletin.com) software support this feature. Just search for Hardware, Mobile, Programming or any other stuff (forum) you like, most are on top of it! That's why just putting a suggestion!

Re: Suggestions for the forum

Post  meenakshi on Wed Feb 18, 2009 12:56 am

Anand I suggest if there would be a way by which an email alert could be sent to all registered members on new articles, links videos, events or downloads posted on site. Of course taking care that only the main topic of the post is sent as an alert and not the relpies to the main subject.

Even better if the LINK to the page on the FORUM could be emailed to encourage the members to log in and contribute. Especially for events and announcements the forum could be used instead of emailing the data directly as text.

Also if a section for all photos and videos of Salsa nights and other performances could be regularly updated and maintained to make everybody aware of the event which might also help to get a good crowd for the salsa nights.

I am not aware of how feasible this is but is just a loud thought.

........coz Really guys r from Earth and gurls from Neptune.
