Does height matter in salsa dancing?

Lets share our thoughts on what do you feel about : "Does height matter in salsa dancing?"...

in doing lifts and tricks yes, but otherwise no i dont think much..
maybe also in the complicated routines like tunnel etc..

thats a good question ,sheetal.
I am rather uncomfortable dancing with a tall girl , more so in class , where u 'change the girl' after every combo.. Im quite nervous about whacking them esp when taking them for a turn.. and i have to raise my hands v high. As for dancing with short girls .. in class its ok , but in a club , if i dance too long , my back hurts Mad

so ideally i d like to dance with someone betn 5'2 and 5'4 . Thats one reason my wife doesnt dance with me , shes 5'8 Sad

But I know that im totally wrong , and thats because I lack experience..the experienced guys can dance with a girl of any height .. the point is made by Jigar , who dances so well with the tall girls.. and Amans video of dance with Grishma is a classic !

a very good question indeed sheetal
something that i have been dying to ask
i used to get a lot of complains about my height in class from guys who were shorter than me
when asked all they said was while dancing with taller girls they have to make an extra effort to raise their hands
as a girl i do find it difficult to execute moves like tunnel smoothly with a shorter guy
i hvnt faced any difficulty in doing dips
as far as lifts are concerned i havent tried them out myself but i do agree with anand that height might be a hindrance
