Suggest move - Salsa game!

Post  Guest on Tue Sep 02, 2008 7:25 pm

As Anand annonated umpteen times that you can make numerous combinations from a specific position, no matter how stuck you feel.
So, let's play this Salsa-Game! Each reply would contain only one step (123-567, not 123 or 567 only).

Both genders are allowed in this game!

Let me start with Closed-hold!

guy lowers both hands and leads girls for a cross body turn, still holding, so the armlock gets transferred from one hand to the other Smile..

Re: Suggest move - Salsa game!

Post  Guest on Wed Sep 03, 2008 3:02 am

at this point, the guy realizes that was a pretty dumb thing to do, so he does basics till the music ends or the girl goes to sleep.

ok seriously, if i have assumed correctly till this point, the guy has got himself into a pretty knotty position! @ashish, u din mention whether he keeps his left arm raised or lowered while taking a spot turn, but since anand talks about an arm lock, i'll assume it was kept lowered. @anand, i can't quite visualize leading a cross body turn with hands lowered and the left arm in arm lock, so i think i must have been wrong in interpreting either your or ashish's move. if i assume the guy has his left arm in armlock which he transfers to the right by leading the girl for a cross body step (instead of a turn) while turning to the left himself (similar to wat we do in back to back copa, only right over left, instead of left over right), we've come to a pretty interesting position (right arm in armlock, with the left to right connection below the right to left, a position which i've been fortunate never to have found myself in Smile ) if this is not where we r supposed be, then please clarify Smile
but since this is an interesting position by itself, i'll type out a cpl of moves i could think of from here.
1) the guy makes sure his left palm is facing upwards and does an open break raising his left elbow high and turning the girl on the 3 count and lowering the elbow (the girl, trying to save her life, ducks while turning on 3, but it ends up looking like a sexy body wave... ok no, just kidding). now we've got into a position as in sneak peek (but with right over left and the girl slightly in front of the guy rather than slightly behind). from here the guy releases the right to left connection and leads the girl for a cross body turn in the same direction from which she came, keeping his left hand lowered.... now the girl's right arm goes into an armlock. wud have been fun trying this out with someone in class, preferably someone who doesn't mind a numb forehead for a worthy cause Razz
2) the guy raises his right elbow instead of the left and spot turns to his right (or an open break and turn on count 3) instead of turning the girl and then lowers his elbow which brings them into a sneak peek position from the right hand side. he then sends the girl back for a reverse turn. i guess this is the more leadable option, @anand?

Anand, your arm-lock move put me in perplexing state and that's why I did not reply. Since I thought the guy took the full spot turn (not half turn like in magic, or 'canceled' spot-turn like in Neck-roll move (Level 2)). And, that's why I did not reply and waited for some expert to reply instead - and here we got Mr. Bose' astounding reply! Too good Arindam, beyond repute! cheers

But the move is complicated (starting from Aashish itself - for the beginners!). Since there is no visual turnout here in posts after the move is taken, and no actual understanding how the hands are messed up, the the person who takes the turn (i.e. who Posts the turn), must mention the hands position (at least in initial stages of this game).

This is absolutely needed. When anyone is learning particular move, say Magic, and starting-off from the middle of the move (say the position where guy takes half turn).
In these kind "middle-of-move" situations, the learner (student) must be carefully told how to put the hands where - left over right, or vice versa; if it's arm locked or not, which hand is raised, which hand on the shoulder and lots of things! Often seen that tutor must have to go the guy and position them properly!

Thus, the poster must mention the position clearly - we can ward-off this requirement later!

Game Reset: We are in closed hold!

And guys, please give some space for beginners to play, take simple moves. Or at least place a complicated position into simple position, even by taking more complicated stuff! Idea But mention the end result!

okay starting from closed hold

man releases his right hand and lets go of the ladys left hand. so now only a left with right connection exists.
he takes lady for a simple single spot turn to right.. 123 is lead 567 is turn for the girl... simple enough ? Smile

Indeed!

My move:
With the current position: Guys Left with Gals Right hold; The guy leads her for a Cross Body Turn, and leaves the Hand, and holds the same hand (Girl's Right) with Guys Right hand. The guy is doing his normal CBL footwork.

Ending up in a Right to Right connection. Left hands of both partner's are free.

Guy and Girl facing same direction. With right hand guy pumps her for '1' and then spins her back for double spot turn, and holds the girl in closed hold! I love you

Now I'm not going to reply unless others reply! Evil or Very Mad

Now I'm not going to reply unless others reply!

well, i am. Smile

getting back to the "closed" after a double spin and holding right with right may be tough for beginners.. anyways

from there

guy leads open break into copa while still being in closed hold. imagine it. she comes into a sort of cuddle with the guys right hand on her stomach in front. that happens on 123.. man leads lady to walk back with him on 567

I know, that's I came out from slightly complicated one-hand Titanic (that beginners might not be able to understand) to a closed step!

I ain't going to take step, unless others (except you, Anand) reply! silent

By the way, if needed, you can put some rules and restrictions to this thread regarding moves. pirat

Tina, the move has just ended with cross body CLOSED HOLD. You can take any one move which completes one bar, excluding taking basic step!

Leaves HER right hand (by his left), and leads for reverse spot turn via HIS right hand. It's now right-to-left connection. pirat
