What makes salsa dancing so great for the ladies? Is it the beautiful styling which includes beautiful arms, isolations, and body rolls? Yes, styling is fun to do but that also can be found in many dances such as tango, flamenco, jazz. Can it be the ability to spin endlessly? The answer is yes. The great quality of dancing in salsa is doing multiple spins. This may be an opinionated answer, but there are many great female dancers which capture how spins can be one of the ...

Dear All,

Last night 7th june 2009, quickstep performed 3 sequences at the edfs show.

The next to follow was the latin ballroom sequence. Absolutely fabulous. Grace, charm, coordination and beauty all came together in one performance. ...

The fact is every person at this event has come to dance. The likelihood is strong that ...

came across some youtube videos online and saw a lot of guys adding style steps n moves over the conventional basic style of dancing. (like toe taps, null steps, hand, hop step...etc)
It would be great if you could show us a few during the sessions. We see you doing them when you are dancing but actually cannot pick them up easily....wud be nice if you could point them out to us...

A Tribute to the Unknown Dancer

by: Peter Pachecos

He’s the fellow who was dragged practically kicking and screaming into class. Never, in his wildest dreams did he envision himself doing a Foxtrot — whatever that is. Nor did he ever think he’d ever allow himself to be persuaded to take group lessons.

Yes, he desperately yearned to be a good dancer, driven as he was by images of couples weaving down a dance floor with effortless ease and, yes, to the applause and admiration of ...

Bad Dancers?

By: Karen Kiefer

There aren't any BAD Dancers!

Often times, I listen to people make comments such as, "he has no rhythm .... or she can't follow". Sometimes the comments are even more harmful, "what do they think they're trying to do - that looks simply awful", or "he can't dance at all, he's just bopping - maybe he should take some lessons"!

Have you ever thought this? Ever voiced this to your friends? What's really important about ...

If you lose the beat and find yourself out of step with the music don't try to catch up. It will make things worse and confuse your partner. Instead just close your feet to return to the start position (do nothing). Wait for the second beat of the next bar of music and start again (step forward or back).

Guys be considerate of your partner. You might want to perform some fancy move but she might be on the wrong foot, not ready or someone has got in the road ...

The passion of the salsa dancer is unparalleled; rich, overflowing, mad – and quickly becoming one of the most organized & professional street dances in the world. This is the kind of dance that is both internalized and externalized. Salsa is nothing without a least a little wow factor, but salsa is also nothing if you can’t just lose yourself in the music and dance like nobody’s watching.

In this article, we ask the question: how does social dancing ...
